Issue 24, better when shared
Hey. This week, I’m thinking about what happens when we create together — especially as Thanksgiving rolls around.
There’s something special about collaboration. Whether it’s cooking, storytelling, or just coming together to play a game... these moments remind us that creativity doesn’t always have to be a solo act. In fact, it’s often better when shared.
Creating together isn’t really about the outcome — it’s about enjoying the process. It’s the back-and-forth of ideas, the unexpected twists and turns, and the unique perspectives each person brings. It doesn’t have to be perfect. In fact, some of the best creations are messy, unpredictable, and wonderfully imperfect.
This Thanksgiving, let’s lean into those shared moments. Whether you’re teaming up to bake the perfect pumpkin pie or taking part in a family game night, remember: creativity loves company. When we create together, we build more than art, food, or stories – we build connection.
I hope these things inspire you:
🦃 Thanksgiving, but make it creative.
If your Thanksgiving tradition starts and ends with pie, it’s time to shake things up. From DIY crafts to family games, this list has everything you need to spice up your holiday (and maybe give you a break from Uncle Bob's stories). Get some ideas here.
📖 Could Your Family Be the Next Brontës?
Okay, maybe you're not quite ready to churn out a literary classic — but the Brontës prove that creativity can run in the family. You might not manage to write a masterpiece — but a group haiku about Thanksgiving leftovers? Totally doable. Take Google's virtual tour to inspired. Explore here.
🎲 Get on a roll with storytelling.
Story Cubes is a simple yet brilliant game that sparks group storytelling with nothing more than dice. Roll them, see the images, let your imagination run wild. It's like improv comedy but with less awkward silences. See them here.
Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving from everyone at Altering. 🙏
